JACK Leach is back training with his Somerset colleagues ahead of his upcoming trip to Sri Lanka with the England Lions where he will be determined to show just what he can do.

Last winter, Leach was away playing for Wanneroo in Perth but this year he had Christmas at home in Taunton with his family.

The 25-year-old left-arm spinner, who last season took 68 First Class wickets, said: “Now I am back and training hard again.

“I have got a few weeks back here then I will be off to Sri Lanka with the England Lions and I can’t wait.

“Dubai before Christmas was a really good experience and I learned a lot so now I want to get some more experience and win some games with the England Lions.

“I haven’t been to Sri Lanka before so it will be another country where I can learn my trade and a different set of conditions against different players to get used to.”

Leach, who plays his local cricket for Taunton Deane, continued: “I am in a really good place at the moment with my cricket.

“I’m learning a great deal along the way and just loving it.

“For me it’s always important to keep learning and keep on pushing forward and now I am even more hungry to keep on getting better.

“I have learned from little setbacks that I have suffered in the past that each one makes you stronger and you come out better.

“I am very lucky in the situation I am in, I am playing cricket for the county I love and have managed to play for the England Lions.

“I always think how lucky I am to be where I am, but I also know where I want to get to, so it’s about keeping everything in perspective and using it to push forward.

“Whatever happens I use that to make me even more determined than ever and I won’t stop, so I am just loving the experience and looking to keep pushing on.”
