Bridgwater Town have appointed Phil Hucker as their new boss for the remainder of the Evo-Stik Division 1 South & West season.

The Robins have been without a manager since the beginning of January when Craig Laird left the club to join Dorchester Town, and Hucker has a big task on his hands to restore confidence within the ranks at Fairfax Park.

Bridgwater have won just twice all season and sit bottom of the division with 16 matches left to play, starting with Saturday’s trip to Salisbury.

Hucker will not be in the dugout for the trip to Wiltshire but will be involved on Tuesday night as Town host Larkhall Athletic, who were thumped 10-2 by Taunton earlier this week.

The new boss is a UEFA ‘B’ qualified coach who has built up a wealth of coaching experience over the past three decades.

Hucker has recently had a spell as chief scout at Weston-super-Mare and Robins fans will be hoping that a new face in the dugout will inspire a change in fortunes between now and the end of the season.
