THE ICC Women's World Cup is coming to Somerset this summer, and cricket's governing body have now released the dates on which Taunton will host tournament matches.

Taunton has established itself as the home of women's cricket in the UK in recent years, and the County Ground is one of five domestic venues that is set to host the event.

The teams to play here are not yet known as some nations are still to qualify, but Taunton will be staging matches on the following days:

  • Monday 26 June
  • Thursday 29 June
  • Sunday 2 July
  • Thursday 6 July
  • Saturday 8 July
  • Wednesday 12 July
  • Saturday 15 July

One or more of those will be an England fixture, with each venue - a list which also includes the county grounds at Bristol, Derby and Leicester as well as Lord's - due to host the national team at least once.

Somerset CCC CEO Guy Lavender said: “We are extremely proud to have been selected as one of the host venues for the ICC Women’s World Cup.

“We consider ourselves to be the spiritual home of Women’s Cricket and we will continue to do all we can to support the game at international, domestic and recreational levels."

The fixture list will be confirmed on March 8, and tickets will be available to purchase via the ICC website here.

The final takes place at Lord's, with 8000 tickets already sold for the showpiece occasion on July 23 - a record for an ICC women's final.

Elsewhere, Western Storm received their fixture list for the Kia Women's Super League last week, with one match set to be held at Taunton.

The side - who were beaten in the final of the inaugural competition last season - will play Loughborough Lightning at the Cooper Associates County Ground on Saturday August 12 as part of a double-header which also includes Somerset's clash against Kent Spitfires.
