YEOVIL Town Ladies FC will host Arsenal Ladies in one of their Spring Series matches at the Viridor Stadium in May.

The home of Taunton Town will see Yeovil - promoted to the top flight for the upcoming season - face the current Women's FA Cup holders and serial league title winners on Sunday, May 7.

The stage will be set for women's international stars Kim Little, Jordan Nobbs, Alex Scott and Helen Ward - the all-time leading scorer for Wales, who signed for Yeovil last week - to compete in the Spring Series game.

It is one of three Yeovil Town matches being played in Taunton, with the Viridor also hosting Bristol City Women (May 3) and Reading Women (May 17).

Yeovil are also playing at Bridgwater's Fairfax Park, against Sunderland Ladies (May 28) and Notts County Ladies (June 3).

Yeovil Town general manager Trevor Jenkins said: "We are looking forward to being made to feel so welcome at Taunton and Bridgwater.

"I’d like to thank both chief executive Kevin Sturmey at Taunton and chairman Adrian Byrne at Bridgwater, for being so accommodating and able to host these games away from Yeovil.

"The players and staff are looking forward to showcasing top tier women’s football in these towns, and there are some very exciting games scheduled, which will certainly generate high levels of interest, as we get our first taste of Women's Super League 1."

The Spring Series is designed to bridge the gap between seasons as the FA Women's Super League transitions from a summer to winter competition.

Each club plays each other once in a home or away fixture, with a trophy going to the winner of both divisions.

The competition will end in June, ahead of the Uefa Women's Euro 2017 finals this summer.

Yeovil's opening series match is against Liverpool at Huish Park, Yeovil, on April 23 - see the club's website for more information.
