SOMERSET all-rounder Peter Trego took to Twitter to slam "negativity-feeding, parasitical so-called fans", following criticism received following the one-run defeat to Glamorgan on Sunday.

The hosts required 21 runs off the final three overs, but ended up needing six of the final ball, which Trego hit for four to fall just short.

The weekend's defeats to Kent and Glamorgan mean Somerset's fate in the competition is no longer in their own hands, as they must win at Hampshire on Friday and hope other results go their way to make the quarter-finals.

Trego hit out at the abuse received online, while also praising the "true" club supporters.

He was also backed up by Somerset's white ball captain Jim Allenby, who said some of the criticism received was "embarrassing".
