KEITH Parker had an explosive victory in the Vivary seniors Guy Fawkes Stableford, rocketing to a sky high 48 points in his best ever round on the course.
This was despite a damp squib of a no-pointer on the ninth. It overshadowed two sparkling rounds by Dennis Galpin and Barry Clapperton who had 42 and 41 points respectively.
Mike Manning, carrying only half a bag of clubs, swept to a decisive victory in the Halloween Stableford by treating himself to a splendid 44 points. John Hughes came in second with a very respectable 42 points and Les Adamson was third with a well earned 41 points.
The Winter League, run under the watchful eye of organiser Jim Rhinds, has started well and is currently led by club chairman, Bob Stout, and his partner Brian Verrier who have not yet lost a match. They are closely followed by the two Terrys, Watson and Smith, as well as a hungry pack with all to play for before the end of March.
VIVARY ladies held their AGM and prizegiving.

FRANK Penny was the winner in the top division of Taunton Vale’s Stableford on Saturday, November 7.
Penny pipped Barrie Glenton on the back six holes after both players returned with 39 points. Former club captain Pete Lang was third with 38 points.
Ian Smith headed Division Two with 44 points, four ahead of Mark Chapman who claimed second place on countback from Glyn Pearce.
There was a tie at the top of Division Three with Mike Saffin taking the honours ahead of Lee Ward after both scored 40. Paul Kolin was third with 39.
Mark Chapman scored 41 points to win Division One of the following day’s Stableford.
Russell Peck was second on countback from Richard New after both players carded 38 points.
In Division Two, Colin Warnes pipped Darren Cross on countback for to spot, with both scoring 38 points, while club captain Bill Campbell was third with 37.
Last weekend’s competition schedule was wiped out by the bad weather.
A SMALL small field of 14 players competed for the November Midweek Stableford at Pickeridge last Wednesday.
Lee Tomkins with 41 points was the winner followed buy Greg Sylvester with 40 points, David Potter 40, Chris Lewis 36 and Brian Ahern 35.
The weather prevented any of the weekend’s competitions going ahead.
