Chinnor provide tough test for Taunton

Taunton moved a step closer a second successive 100% season and the National Three SW title with a 32-10 victory at home to Chinnor on Saturday.

However, the hosts were made to work hard by the Oxfordhire side before eventually pulling away to record their 19th victory this season and 41st successive league triumph.

Taunton struggled in the early stages before eventually breaking the deadlock with a try from captain Nick Burnett.

The same player added a second try and Taunton led 10-3 at the interval.

A converted try put Chinnor level after the interval to leave the game in the balance before a Matt Ayres penalty and Charlie Walk-Blair try gave Taunton the advantage again.

The hosts pulled away in the final stages with Ayres and Alec Chase adding further five-pointers.
