ATHLETICS: Taunton AC runners step up the pace

TWO Taunton FC runners improved their times from last year when tackling the Ninesprings 9k at Goldenstones, Yeovil.

Keith Paul ran 40m 25s and Sharron Kington 53m 38s on a fun, multi-terrain off-road course which is actually closer to 10k than nine.

The pair also tackled the Run in the Wild at Cricket St Thomas, Kington beating her previous best by two minutes with 1hr 6m 15s while Paul ran 49m 45s.

Clubmate Suzi Griffiths, who timed 1hr 20m 32s, declared it was the hardest race she had ever done – but still came in smiling.

Ten Taunton AC runners tackled the Killerton Park run over 5k on Bank Holiday Saturday morning.

There was a fine competition between the seniors but the younger members leaving them in their wake - Rowan Preece showing a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field in a time of 16m 27s.
