Minehead AFC start pre-season training next Tuesday (July 3) when the first session starts at The Recreation Ground at 7pm with anyone interested in playing for the first or reserve teams encouraged to attend.

Training will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the season begins on Saturday, August 11, and players are requested to bring trainers and boots.

Minehead have to date arranged two home pre-season friendlies.

They entertain Bristol & District League side Portville Warriors at Irnham Road on Saturday, July 14, at 3pm.

Patchway Town, who finished fourth in the David Wilson Homes Gloucestershire County League Premier Division last season, provide opposition from the same pyramid level as Minehead a fortnight later on Saturday, July 28, again with a 3pm kick-off.

For the 2012-13 season Minehead will have a change in fixtures secretary with long- serving officer Trish Hill taking a well earned break after recently stepping down.

Trish has been a hard-working member of the club committee and feels the time is right to take a break, the club says.

The club says it will miss her organisational qualities, but the door is being left open for her return if she feels it is right, said chairman Brian Walder.

In the meantime the club is looking for a new fixtures secretary to take over as soon as possible.
