Minehead'S final pre-season friendly saw them overcome a strengthened Highbridge Town side 2-1 at The Recreation Ground last night.

The opening goal came mid-way through the first half.

A good run from Luke Freeman ended with him colliding with the Highbridge goalkeeper and Damion Redman was on hand to turn the ball home.

The visitors soon deservedly equalised and at half time the score reflected play at 1-1.

The second half saw Highbridge fade badly and Minehead won the match courtesy of a well-taken Aaron Deeks goal in the final quarter of an hour.

Martyn Phillips almost made it 3-1 with virtually the last attack of the game when he headed a perfectly placed centre against the crossbar from close range.

The visitors did give the Minehead defence a few scares and could easily have equalised in a match which Minehead should have comfortably put out of their reach.
