WIVELISCOMBE lost 53-10 to a competent Chew Valley side in the Somerset Premier on Saturday.

Wivey started the better and Chew were forced to defend for the first ten minutes.

The visitors just could not find that finishing touch against a well-organised defence and had to settle for a George Rowe penalty.

Chew gradually gained the upper hand and No8 Alex Cox scored two first half tries while his full-back brother Silas added another along with a conversion and a penalty to leave the score 20-3 at half time.

The home team increased their lead early in the second period when Wivey failed to secure the ball from the kick off, Silas Cox scoring his second.

Wivey then had a good patch, playing some impressive rugby and were rewarded with a Tom Chaffey try converted by Rowe.

Wivey had to make changes in their pack and Chew were able to gain control up front and finished the game strongly, scoring another four tries through Andrew Pike, Alex Cox, Richard Pollett and Sam Ryan with Silas Cox converting all four.
