WELLINGTON’S indoor season has started well for the Badgers – comprising Bert Whitear, Tony Fisher, Helen Lancaster and Margaret Brotheridge – who beat Optimists 30-6 in the afternoon mixed league.

To rub salt into the wound they took a maximum eight shots on the 13th end.

Harriers have moved top of the league as the only team to have played and won two matches.

Joe Dixon led them to a 24-6 victory over Optimists Derek Lane followed that up by leading them to a 15-13 victory over Max Perry's hard-to-beat Buzzards.

Janice Thorne, Gordon White, Martin Speakman and Mike Warden took the YZEDs to an opening 19-9 victory over Thelma Helps’ consistently strong Demons.

Gumboots had a mixed opening two games. Geoff Jenkins led them to a comfortable 20-8 win over Ian Heard's Buzzards but in their second game they went down 12-6 to Gordon Brown's Hemyock.

In their first game Hemyock lost 15-13 to Laurie Greaves' Demons.
