TAUNTON Town, fresh from their fantastic victory at league leaders Hereford, can move up to fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West should they win tonight at home to Larkhall Athletic (ko 7.45pm).

The Peacocks, currently seventh, have several games in hand on the teams above them as a result of their FA Cup and FA Trophy exploits this season.

Victory over Larkhall at the Viridor Stadium tonight would see them leapfrog Salisbury and Mangotsfield United, and sit a mere three points behind fourth-placed Swindon Supermarine.

Somerset County Gazette:

Success would also extend the Peacocks' record winning run to 11 games.

The sides have not yet met in the league this season, but hosts Taunton won 6-2 against tonight's opponents in the FA Trophy preliminary round, with Matt Wright, Shane White (penalty), Craig Veal (2), Owen Irish and Adam Kelly scoring the Peacocks' goals.

Larkhall, who are 15th in the division standings, are without a win in eight matches - a run going back to mid-November - but they have a new manager.

Phil Bater was appointed last week, replacing his son Geraint (who stepped back from the role for "personal and family reasons"), having previously managed Clevedon Town and Mangotsfield United, and played for Bristol Rovers, where he also coached.

Town's squad is relatively unchanged from the weekend, although striker Wright is away so misses out, while midfielder Matt Buse is back in contention.
