TAUNTON Town look to extend their unbeaten run to 11 games, and put more distance between themselves and the playoff-chasing pack, at home to Shortwood United tonight (ko 7.45pm).

But this evening's visitors to the Viridor pose a greater threat than their 12th place would initially suggest, as their away record is an impressive one.

They have won 10 out of 16 matches on their travels, and at the weekend they claimed their first home victory since October as they defeated high-fliers Tiverton Town 1-0, a result which allowed the Peacocks to move into second spot.

So the hosts will need to be on the guard tonight in this rearranged fixture, pushed back from November as a result of Town's FA Trophy involvement.

The Peacocks were 3-0 victors at Shortwood on the opening day of the season, with Matt Wright (2) and Jordan Rogers scoring, but the three points were later deducted due to the fielding of an ineligible player.

Rogers - now the club's top scorer for the season - and Craig Veal look set to continue their strike partnership from Saturday's win over Bishops Cleeve, with Wright still out due to a neck injury.

Boss Leigh Robinson will hope Wright is fit to return on Saturday for Town's trip to Larkhall Athletic, as Rogers will begin a two-game suspension after having picked up 10 yellow cards over the season.

In defence, Owen Irish - who missed Saturday's match as he was away at a wedding - returns, and will likely slot in to the space vacated by fellow centre-back Matt Villis, who picked up a hamstring problem at the weekend.
