TAUNTON Town's merry-go-round of different competitions continues tomorrow (Saturday) as they welcome AFC Totton to the Viridor Stadium for an FA Trophy preliminary round tie (3pm).

Having seen off North Leigh in the league last Saturday and Bideford on penalties in the BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup on Tuesday night, the Peacocks now face two more cup ties in the next five days - Totton in the FA Trophy, and Ashton & Backwell United in the Somerset Premier Cup on Tuesday.

Tuesday's match at Bideford saw sponsor Shaun Anthony drafted into a patched-up starting XI, with coach Rob Dray and director Giuseppe Fraschini named as substitutes.

Taunton went behind early on before Anthony equalised, but the hosts went into half-time 2-1 up.

It took a moment of magic from Ross Staley to level the scores midway through the second half, and the Peacocks then held their nerve to win 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

Chris McGrath made his return from injury at the back and played alongside youngster Tom Stone as Leigh Robinson gave several fringe players the opportunity to impress.

That may be the case again on Saturday as Totton make their second visit to the Viridor in the space of a month having been beaten 2-1 in the league on September 16.

Matt Wright and Ben Adelsbury scored the goals on that occasion, with the latter also responsible for the winner against North Leigh last weekend.
