TAUNTON Town look to extend their unbeaten run in Evo-Stik Southern League West to 14 games, as Shortwood United visit the Viridor Stadium tomorrow (ko 3pm).

Here's what you need to know ahead of the match, Taunton fans...

Taunton Town v Shortwood United (3pm)

Venue: Viridor Stadium, Wordsworth Drive, Taunton

League positions: Taunton 1st, Shortwood 18th

Last matches: Taunton had been due to travel to Frome Town in the Southern League Challenge Cup on Wednesday, but they forfeited the tie, so their last game was a 4-0 win at AFC Totton; Shortwood were handed a 6-1 thumping by Cirencester Town on Tuesday.

Last meeting: August 26 - Shortwood United 1, Taunton Town 2 (Ryan Brett and Pierce Mitchell scored for Taunton, before Matt Villis was sent off and Levi Cox netted the penalty).

Team news: Manager Leigh Robinson said the Peacocks were missing "numerous first team players either ill, injured or working away" on Wednesday. One player we know will miss out is Shane White, due to suspension, but Ben Adelsbury is set to return from his one-match ban.

Pre-match thoughts: Speaking to the County Gazette, Peacocks captain Matt Wright said: “Whenever a team is smashed [as Shortwood were on Tuesday], they’re looking for a reaction [in the next game],” the skipper said.

“When we played them earlier in the season they were a good side, so I’d say their league position is a bit false.”

“We can’t take any team for granted."
