TAUNTON Town midfielder Ross Staley is to depart the club next month, having taken up the opportunity to coach and play in Australia for eight months.

Manager Leigh Robinson told the Gazette this morning that Staley will be available for the Peacocks through to January 23 before going Down Under, joking: "And who can blame him?"

Staley arrived at the Viridor Stadium after leaving Hereford in October last year, and made an immediate impact with eight goals in his first 12 starts.

The attacking midfielder, who has also played at wing-back for Robinson's side, has made 19 starts this season (with 10 substitute appearances) and scored six goals.

Taunton saw their scheduled match with Wimborne Town called off yesterday, with the Viridor Stadium pitch unfit for play, and so there next match is this Saturday (December 23, ko 3pm), at home to Cirencester Town.
