TWO games and 13 goals: fans at the Viridor Stadium have certainly been entertained this week.

It’s been somewhat refreshing to see Larkhall and Wimborne come to attack the champions-elect, and the Peacocks respond in kind.

Craig Veal has delivered more than I expected when Town re-signed him, while Dan Sullivan continues to find the net with ease.

We’ve also seen an experiment with variation on the themes of 4-4-2/4-3-3... though this may only be of interest to formation geeks and/or Championship Manager 01-02 nuts like me.

The formation switch was largely due to the loss of Keith Emmerson, whose return for this weekend is very welcome, for his defensive instincts and leadership are key.

Aysa Corrick (Larkhall) and Toby Holmes (Wimborne) exposed weaknesses in the Peacocks rearguard, Toby Down and Josh Nelmes having not played much football up to this week.

Should Town win on Saturday, it could well mean the Holy Grail of promotion is assured at last.

Aside from second-placed Salisbury, only Bideford and Wimborne could then deny Taunton one of the two automatic promotion places.

If those two teams fail to win this weekend, and Taunton do, then it’s party time for the Aeroplane Gang.
