TAUNTON Town boss Leigh Robinson is to remain as the club's manager next season after extending his deal with the Peacocks.

Robinson, who has been in charge since June 2012 having previously managed Wellington and Bridgwater Town, has steered the club to the Evo-Stik Southern League West title this season with five games to spare and will now take on the challenge of leading the team at a higher level.

Robinson told the club website: "I'm really pleased to still be managing this great club next season.

"It's been a sensational last two seasons with the FA Cup First Round, play-offs, FA Trophy First Round and now a comprehensive title win and as a club we are in brilliant shape both on and off the pitch.

"As I have said already this week, the Southern Premier is certainly not the Holy Grail for this club and my job therefore is to keep improving the team and work towards future success.”

Chairman Kevin Sturmey added: "Again it has been a no brainer to reappoint Leigh.

"To gain promotion with seven games to go in March and then win the title was a phenomenal achievement and no more than he deserves.

"This success has been the result of six years hard work through some really good times and some tough times.

"Our working relationship is built on respect and an understanding that all we do every season has to be sustainable but with a vision of where we both know this great club could reach.”
