TAUNTON Town face a real examination of their unbeaten league record on Saturday (ko 3pm), as they go to promotion hopefuls Wimborne Town.

The Peacocks were due to host strugglers Slimbridge on Tuesday night, but a waterlogged pitch caused the game to be called off.

The title may be secure, but manager Leigh Robinson says there’s still plenty for his side to play for.

“We’re under no pressure, and the fans can have an extended celebration.

“But we have decisions to make on players, we need to have more of a look at some of them for next season.

“If we can stay unbeaten and hit 100 points, that would be a wonderful bonus for us.”

One of the players who should get more game time is Joel Randall, the 18-year-old left wing-back signed on loan from Exeter City.

“Joel should play on Saturday,” said Robinson.

“With the job done [winning the title] we want to give an opportunity to the young lad and aid his development.”

The Peacocks are likely to be without Pierce Mitchell (hamstring injury), while Keith Emmerson and Matt Buse are both doubts.

The Magpies have a chance of automatic promotion, with second-placed Salisbury on a three-game winless run.

Robinson added: “Wimborne are one of the better teams we’ve played. It should be a good game, with us more relaxed and Wimborne going for second.

“It would be a hell of a difficult place to get a win under pressure.

“Toby Holmes [38 league goals this season] is a really good player and there are several clubs looking at him, so we’ll see if our lads at the back can stop him.”

The Peacocks then go to Winchester City, who sit on the fringes of playoff contention, on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm).

“We have a duty to give our best in all our remaining games, even with the title wrapped up,” Robinson said.

“We’re not wanting to play dead rubbers as we look to next season.”
