Taunton Town 2, Bristol Manor Farm 1

TAUNTON Town ensured the party atmosphere was not flattened at the Viridor Stadium as they beat Bristol Manor Farm 2-1 before lifting the league trophy at full-time.

Dan Sullivan came off the bench to net the winner 12 minutes from time after Matt Buse's opener had been cancelled out by Troy Simpson.

The hosts began the game on top and went close twice in the first five minutes, Matt Wright curling wide from an angle before Ollie Chamberlain's shot was blocked.

Manor Farm grew into the game but failed to truly test Lloyd Irish in the Peacocks goal, with Cory Simpson twice firing over the bar when well placed.

Wright should have given Taunton the lead when he was picked out after superb work by Nuno Felix down the left, but goalkeeper Ashley Clark saved both the captain's point-blank header and Craig Veal's follow-up.

Clark was called into action to deny Veal again soon afterwards but he was eventually beaten when the striker turned provider, crossing for Matt Buse to head home on 34 minutes.

Taunton went in search of a second after the break but again found Clark hard to beat, with Ben Adelsbury's free-kick pushed away.

Manor Farm were level midway through the half when Troy Simpson's snapshot from the edge of the box beat Irish to his righ, though it wasn't long before Town re-established their lead.

They did so in somewhat fortuitous fashion, as Sullivan's cross from wide on the right looped over a backpedalling Clark and nestled in the far corner, but the vast majority of the 638 in attendance did not mind too much about that.

Aside from one scare when Cory Simpson got in behind and shot straight at Irish, Taunton saw out the game comfortably and extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 32 matches ahead of Tuesday night's final home game of the season against Slimbridge.
