TAUNTON Town look to complete the season without an away loss as they go to Cinderford Town on Saturday (ko 3pm).

They extended their unbeaten league run to 33 games by thumping Slimbridge 9-0, and are now aiming to finish their title-winning campaign on a high.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: “We’ve got the unbeaten league run to play for, as well as the unbeaten away run.

“We’re the only team in the UK, from Step 1 to 6, not to have lost away, which is absolutely incredible.

“Hopefully we’ll go up to Cinderford with a good attitude, apply ourselves and keep that record intact.”

Reflecting on Tuesday’s comprehensive win, Robinson said: "Slimbridge had a couple of chances on the counter-attack, and were maybe unlucky not to score in the first half, but after we got the first goal I thought that settled everyone down a bit.

"It put smiles on faces a bit like last Tuesday night [at Winchester], and we're happy to have put on a show and got some goals in our last home league game.

"Joel Randall was very good, very lively down the left-hand side having changed sides from Saturday.

"The conditions were absolutely perfect for him tonight, with a nice zippy pitch, exactly what he's used to at Exeter, and he flourished with a few assists - all part of his learning into men's football.

"The plan was to take Matt Wright off after an hour and play Alpha [Sow] for the last half hour, but Matt was begging me at half time not to take him off because he was sniffing goals so we ended up taking Ben Adelsbury off because his hamstring was a bit tight.

"It was a really good hat-trick and it's thoroughly deserved because he's been a great captain and talisman for us this year.

"Alpha Sow was good, I don't think he gave the ball away or hardly at all, he was good with his back to goal, nice and tidy.

"He's still quite a way away with his fitness but you can definitely see there's a player in there, if we can get him fit in pre-season."

On Brett Trowbridge, who came on for the last five minutes after missing three months with a fractured eye socket, Robinson said: "We said in the changing room before, it's easy to for the players and supporters to get carried away with the here and now, the last five games, but Brett [Trowbridge] made a massive contribution from August until he got injured in late January.

"We were keen for him not to get forgotten and it was good for him to get a little run-out at the end."

Robinson also offered an update on midfielder Ollie Chamberlain, who limped off against Slimbridge.

"He just had a little tweak of his hamstring and there was absolutely no point in risking him in a game like tonight where there's nothing really on it,” he said.

"But he's a very fit boy and he recovers well, so I should think he'll be in the squad for Saturday."
