More support for walkabout

MORE people have pledged their support for the It's Childsplay fund-raising event in Taunton and Wellington on May 4.

The event, which is organised by the Taunton Vale Rotary Club, and backed by the County Gazette, is to raise money for the two hospices run by Children's Hospice South-West - Little Bridge House, near Barnstaple, and Charlton Farm, near Bristol.

It's Childsplay will see participants start anywhere they like and get to the finish at Vivary Park in Taunton or Wellington Rugby Club some time between noon and 5pm.

Anyone taking part can choose how they get to the finish point, be it on foot, by horse, pushchair or wheel-chair. The event is open to all and it is hoped thousands of people will join in.

Among the entries received this week is one from Luke Moore, of Woodrush Close, Taunton, together with Alan Tanner, who will be cycling to Vivary Park from Little Bridge House.

A parachute jump is also due to take place at Dunkeswell today on behalf of It's Childsplay, which will raise nearly £4,000 towards the cause.

Participants on May 4 have to raise at least £10 in sponsorship and everyone who registers will get a free T-shirt to wear on the day.

More details of the Wellington event will follow in the coming weeks.

Entrants should pre-register by post to: Jas Shorney, Lyddons Mead, Nails-bourne, Taunton, TA2 8AF; or by e-mail to childsplay@colourtone.co .uk or on-line at www.tauntonvalerotary.org There will also be five designated starting points where you can register on the day.
