Alan TIZZARD

TIZZARD Alan Reginald Derek 1931 2020 Died peacefully in his sleep, early Thursday morning 2 April. Survived by his three sons Martin, Andrew & Timothy, grandchild James and great-grandchildren Bonnie, Francesca, Jesse and Theo, and daughters-in-law's Brenda, Kathy and Patrick the '4th' son. Alan was born in Rotherhithe, London, attended Westwood School, Welling, Kent. Growing up in London during WW2 he experienced the Blitz with the family being bombed out twice. He spent a short time as an evacuee. Following the war, he served in Germany with the 10th Royal Hussars and latterly as a Troop Sergeant with the Westminster Dragoons. Alan married the love of his life Joyce in 1954. He entered Local Government in 1967 serving in the Civil Defence, Road Safety, retiring in 1994 as Principal Officer of the L.B. of Southwark Health and Safety Department. Alan was co-founder of the National Service Veterans Alliance and served as Welfare Officer for the Royal Tank Regiment Association. Alan will be remembered by many for his love of dogs. Due to illness he recently moved from Eltham, London to Somerset. A private funeral service will be held at Sedgemoor Crematorium but If you wish, donations may be made to "Setterusfree" an animal charity committed to the rescue of dogs from Greece and Spain through Wallace Stuart Lady Funeral Directors TA6 6PZ
