I was deeply saddened to only recently learn of Nigel’s death.
He and I were close friends in our teens, having attended both Heathfield and SCAT together.
He was a charming, warm-hearted man, full of good grace and humour.
He was also a truly exceptional drummer and the reason I started to play.
I would often accompany him to gigs across Somerset at weekends, helping to cram his drums into a less then reliable Vauxhall Viva. These nights were always magical, full of laughter and an ever-present silliness. Truly wonderful, warm memories.
I moved to London when I was about 20 and, as is so often the case, we lost touch.
I have often thought of Nigel, though, always half expecting to see him behind the kit of an established band.
I can’t believe he has gone.
Condolences to his family.

What a shock to see this, after a year as well. I knew Nigel from Heathfield School and via friends in Ruishton. He was an amazing drummer and was great fun and a lovely guy. So sad that Nigel has left this world may he be drumming loud up in the Sky. My condolences to you all.

So sorry to hear - only today through my Mum - that Nigel died. He was an incredible drummer and a boisterous, funny guy when I knew him. I know he struggled in later years but I have such warm memories of him and will always remember him as that fun drummer, incredible musician and close personal friend. My deepest condolences to Margaret.
