SOMERSET COUNTY COUNCIL HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 NOTICE OF INTENT TO INTRODUCE A CYCLE TRACK ALONG GREENWAY ROAD & LESLIE AVENUE, TAUNTON

Notice is hereby given that Somerset County Council in accordance with Sections 65 and 66 of the Highways Act 1980 propose a cycle link along Greenway Road and Leslie Avenue. The effect will be to change the status of part of the Footways to convert them to a shared use Cycle Track. Full details are in the schedule below. SCHEDULE Provision of a Cycle Track ■ The Cycle Track along the north side of Greenway Road will be 11.6 metres in length and will be generally 1.5 metres wide and head in a south easterly direction from its start point. It will be segregated from the existing footway by a raised white line for the first 6.5 metres until it reaches the Toucan crossing where it becomes a shared unsegregated footway/cycleway for the final 1.5 metres. ? The Cycle Track along the south side of Greenway Road will be 29 metres in length and will vary in width from 1.5 metres to 3.5 metres wide and will head in a north westerly direction from its start point. It will be segregated from the existing footway by a raised white for the first 6.5 metres until it reaches the Toucan crossing where it becomes a shared unsegregated footway/cycleway for the next 22.5 metres to Leslie Avenue. A copy of the public notice and the plan may be Inspected at Somerset County Council, A Block Reception, County Hall, Taunton and online at www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-transport/road-works/tro.

Any person requiring further information regarding the above scheme should make such a request in writing, quoting reference number KT24092018 to Somerset County Council, Traffic Management, County Hall, Taunton TA1 4DY.

STATEMENT OF REASONS The proposed footway conversion will create a safer environment for cycling and encourage more people to walk and cycle to local destinations.
