AN art exhibition has opened at a Taunton restaurant showing work by home-educated children from around the county.

The exhibition opened on Wednesday, July 12, and will be running until July 26 at Pizza Express.

The work is inspired by artists such as Romero Britto, Yayoi Kusama, Alce Harfield and Shepard Fairey, as well as Katsushika Hokusai, Paulo Uccello, Johannes Vermeer, Andy Warhol and Edgar Degas.

Somerset County Gazette:

The Home Ed Art History group meets every week in Taunton with children aged between 5 and 14. It was started three years ago by an artist in the area who also arranges gallery visits for the children.

Felix Amos, 13, said: “Studying such a diverse range of artists and learning to use so many different techniques has really helped us all express ourselves and we are all developing our own confidence and style.

"My favourite thing is abstract painting. Everyone is an artist really if they just get the chance to use their creativity.”

Kelly Baker, manager of Pizza Express Taunton, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this unique exhibition. Pizza Express has always been about showcasing stunning and vibrant works of art and the children’s work certainly exemplifies that. Our customers are in for a real treat."
