A FREE technical meeting is being held this February for Devon-based dairy farmers looking to optimise the performance of their grassland.

In keeping with their national Feed2Milk scheme, animal feed company, ForFarmers, are hosting the event as part of the ongoing drive to help improve dairy herd profitability and performance by supporting dairy farmers to produce better quality grass and grass silage.

Two specialists will discuss various aspects of grassland management during the ‘Maximising performance from grassland meeting’: Mark Simes, Business Manager South West DLF Seeds, who will question the role of Festulolium grasses in dairy systems, and ForFarmers Forage Technical Specialist, Clive Edmunds, will outline good practice in grassland management. Local farmer, Peter Wastenage from Wastenage Farms, will also discuss valuing what grass can do on farm at the event.

The meeting will be held at Dartmoor Lodge, Ashburton (TQ13 7JW), with venue doors opening to farmers at 6.30pm and speakers starting their presentations at 7pm.

A hot buffet and refreshments will be provided, and whilst the event is free to attend, all those wishing to take part in the meeting must register their attendance by February 22 with Clive Edmunds (07341 883157 or clive.edmunds@forfarmers.eu) or Harry Chance (07802 173000 or harry.chance@forfarmers.eu).
