Greenslade Taylor Hunt reports a smaller entry of prime cattle at 73 head saw a top price of 208ppk for a top drawer red Limousin heifer from CJM Shackleton, Wiveliscombe. Well fleshed smart Limousin heifers at 187 and 184ppk from J & S Vinnicombe & Son, Ottery St Mary. Adlib young Limousin heifers at 183 and 180ppk fro MJ Tuckett & Partners, Exeter. Best flesh Limousin and Blue heifers at 178.5 and 177ppk from SER Hunt, Kilve.

Steers rose to 202.5ppk for a very shapely, lean red Limousin from MW & S Edwards, Congresbury, who sold other similar at 196.5 and 196.0ppk. Shapely red Limousin steer at 196.5ppk from J & S Vinnicombe & Son. Adlib Limousin steers at 189.5 and 186.5ppk from MJ Tuckett & Partners again. Good Angus steer at 182ppk from PRS & EB Scott, Axbridge.

Steers sold to £1238.40 for a 720kg Blue from SJB Adams & Son, Bridgwater. Overage Hereford steer (50m, 877kg) at £1223.42 from AW & RJ Butler, Bristol. Limousin steer at £1207.36 from MW & S Edwards, Bristol.

Heifers sold to £1254.24 from CJM Shackleton. Further Limousin heifers at £1122 and £1105.84 from J & S Vinnicombe & Son.

55 Barren cows and cull stock bulls. Auctioneer’s Comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt reports a small entry of 48 cull cows and bulls met a very keen trade. Top was 136.5ppk for a Wilmersham bred Angus (FA) from MR & SK Westcott & Son, Porlock, who sold another (FA) at 135.5ppk. Hereford cows at 123.5ppk (FA) twice from SR White, West Quantoxhead and again from ER Parsons & Sons, Cheddar. Devon cow at 121.5ppk (FA) from PA Huxtable, Challacombe.

Sucklers sold to £1144.98 for an Angus from MR & SK Westcott & Son, who sold another at £1031.94.

Dairy bred cows to 122.5ppk for a good meat Friesian from Ireosa Ltd, Dorchester, who sold another at 117.5ppk. Further Friesians at 119.5ppk from MD & KRJ Boley, Highbridge. Fleshed Holsteins at 117.5ppk from RJ Shere, Hemyock, 117.5ppk again, 115.5 and 114.5 twice from JR Dill & Son, Cheddon Fitzpaine and 114.5ppk from R & J Jones & Son, Stogursey. Better meat cows 110ppk plus.
