Ceredigion-based Roland Williams’ Greenlands flock took the day’s top call of 700gns at Saturday’s (10 August) Oxford Down sale, Worcester.
Sale leader was Greenlands 18/00380, a Greenlands Class Act son out of a dam by Barley Park Monsieur Chabal. Buying this one for his Redhouse flock was J W S Brown, Tenby, Pembrokeshire.
Mr Brown then recouped some of his outlay when taking 550gns for his ram lamb Redhouse 19/01513. This son of Barley Park Ulysses is out of a Redhill JB-sired dam and sold to Henry Bishop and Emily South, Fencott, Oxfordshire.
Close behind at 540gns was a shearling ram from Pembrokeshire-based M F S Brown, Monkstone Banksy. This Duntarvie Robert The Bruce son is out of a dam by Delmur Scotty and was bought by Hazel Hindmarch, Wolsingham, Co Durham.
The same buyer then paid the best female price of the day at 320gns when buying a shearling ewe from the Northamptonshire-based Johnson family’s Longfriday flock. This was Longfriday 18/00732, a Bremen daughter out of a dam by Barley Park Jimmy.
And at 290gns was another gimmer from the same home, Longfriday 18/00701. She is a Barley Park Tornado daughter out of a dam by Barley Park Jimmy and was bought by C Clark, Tilford, Farnham.
Averages: 11 shearling ewes £230.04, five ewe lambs £149.10, five shearling rams £417.90, one ram lamb £577.50, two senior rams £152.25 (McCartneys).
