A run of smart suckler bred Limousin steers from GJ Cottrell, Sampford Peverell, topped at 202 ppk, when others met calls of 201.5, 194, 188.5, 185, 182, 179 and 178.5 ppk. Very shapely Limousin steer at 184.5 ppk from SER Hunt, Kilve. Ad lib fed Blonde at 179 ppk again from MJ Tuckett & Partners, Ide, who sold a Limousin at 173.5 ppk. Lean Blue steers at 175 and 169.5 ppk (x2) from D Curtis, Street. Native steers to 170 ppk for an Angus from RA Reed, Seaton.

Steers sold to £1,291.50 for a 700kg red Limousin from SER Hunt. Further red Limousin (737kg) v at £1,278.70 from MJ Tuckett & Partners. Gold Charolais (765 kg) from A Roppert, Maidendown, at £1,269.90. Further red Limousin steer (617kg) at £1,246.34 from GJ Cottrell.

Heifers rose to 197 ppk for a very smart red Limousin from SER Hunt again. Very shapely red Limousin at 195.5 ppk from GJ Cottrell. Good Blue heifer at 182 ppk from TE Pocock & Co, Stringston. Ad lib Limousin at 172 ppk from MJ Tuckett & Partners. Further good Blue at 171 ppk from DT & GM Patch & Co, Whitestaunton.

Native heifers at 167.5 and 161 ppk for Angus from DT & GM Patch & Co again and RA Reed, Seaton, respectively.

Heifers sold to an exceptional £1,201.70 for a 610 kg Limousin from SER Hunt. Further well fleshed Limousin at £1,161 from MJ Tuckett & Partners. Lightweight feeding heifer at £1,085.03 from GJ Cottrell. Blue at £1,051.65 from DT & GM Patch & Co. Angus at £1,027.18 and £1,005 from DT & GM Patch & Co and £1,023.51 and £949.90 from RA Reed.

77 Barren cows and cull stock bulls. Auctioneer's comments:

Native cows led the way to 128.5 ppk for a younger Angus from Hill & Johnstone, Culmhead. Older, fleshed natives at 115.5 ppk for a Stabilizer from RM & BM Boundy, Winkleigh; 112.5 ppk for a Hereford from PA Kingston, Hewish and 110.5 ppk for another Hereford from PG & JE Baker, Weston Super Mare. Smart Saler cow at 125.5 ppk from RM & BM Boundy again. Steaky Simmental at 109.5 ppk from R & J Cook, Bridport.

Sucklers sold to £980.16 for the Saler from RM & BM Boundy. £905.93 was realised for the Angus from Hill & Johnstone.

Dairy bred cows improved to 123.5 ppk for a well fleshed Holstein from NW Doble & Sons, Crewkerne, who sold others at 117.5 and 109.5 ppk. A run of very good meat Holsteins from EV Tramer & Sons, Claverham at 123.5 ppk again, 119.5, 117.5 (x3) and 109.5 ppk. Empty steakers 118.5, 117.5 (x2) and 108.5 ppk from The Colgrove Partnership, St Austell. Further meat Holsteins at 110.5 and 107.5 ppk from RW, JA & AW Barton, Cullompton.

Dairy breeds sold to a tremendous £1,031.23 for a Holstein (835kg) from NW Doble & Sons, who sold another at £975.25. Further best meat Holsteins at £1,019.90, £1,009.78 and £996.40, EV Tranmer & Sons. Another Holstein over £900 at £933.78 from The Colgrove Partnership.

856 Finished lambs. Auctioneer's comments:

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report more lambs forward at 856 head sold to a much firmer, competitive trade for all presented. The best sold to 176 ppk from DM & DM Ginger; 175 and 172 ppk from RR Creed & Son; 175 and 170 ppk from CJ sage; 170 and 168 ppk from EB & JA Webber; 169 ppk from RW Brunt and 168 ppk from RE Webber, R & K Dorpman, AB & GR Dodgson and JN Loosemore & Son.

Heavier lambs sold to £85 and £83 from DM Ruell and JEF & KF Stephens; £83.50 from Appley Estates Ltd; £82 from RW Brunt; £81 from L Habberfield & Sons and £80.50 from BD Elworthy. Overall average £74.56.
