A vodka made with potatoes from Cornwall has been recognised as one of the best in the world, writes Tom Bevan.
The spud spirit has been awarded the prestigious Double Gold standard at the World Spirits Competition held in San Francisco.
The drink - Aval Dor Vodka - was launched six years ago and has been made at Colwith Farm Distillery, near Lostwithiel, Cornwall, since 2018.
'Aval Dor' is Cornish for potato.
It is made from Cornish potatoes grown on the 200-acre family farm in Lanlivery, which has been owned by the Dustow family since 1904.
Less than one per cent of distilleries across the world received the Double Gold designation which stems from gold medal ratings by all members of the judging panel.
Steve Dustow said: "This is only the second year that we've entered the vodka distilled here by myself at our plough to bottle facility and so I'm absolutely made up to have achieved Double Gold."
