Totnes Young Farmers Club (YFC) members stepped up to help The Grange residential home in Ipplepen continue its wheels on meals service for 12 weeks throughout lockdown.

For four to five days a week, ten members formed a rota to ensure that meals were delivered to elderly vulnerable people.

Totnes YFC put out messages on social media and in the local area offering to help in this difficult period.

The Grange saw the message and got in touch, as some of their normal volunteers were unavailable.

Robin Sutton of The Grange said: “A huge thank you to Totnes YFC for helping keep our meals on wheels service going during lockdown. Our elderly clients greatly appreciated the support.”

The members really enjoyed it, and some are going to stay in touch with some of the people they met, some of those being ex-members or parents and grandparents of members.

Ben Avery, secretary of the club, said: “I’m glad Totnes YFC were able to help The Grange Residential Home during this challenging period. We thoroughly enjoyed helping and all members involved gained something from the experience.”
