Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a smaller entry of 51 dairy cattle saw a similar trade, although not quite the sparkle of previous weeks especially in the second quality. Top of the day to £2380 for a superb pedigree ‘Treetop’ heifer from J & S Morgan. £2150 for a commercial heifer from ET Summerfield & Son; £2100 and £1980 SFB Agricultural Services and £1980 AR Edwards & Son.

The Edwards topped the cows at £2100 from The Wentlodge Herd, when the same Vendor sold to £950. Other to £1950 from J Snook.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt report the first July suckler sale included the second annual production sale for the ‘Trefrawl’ Charolais and Limousins from the Hooper Family of Looe, Cornwall. The Limousin cow Trefrawl Lulu with her third calf at foot an April born bull by Gallaber Mars topped the day at 3000gns. 4 year old cow with heifer calf at foot sold to 2700gns. The 16 cows and calves averaged £2161. Served heifers to 1350gns and yearlings 1000gns (3x).

A good demand for Charolais saw ‘Trefrawl’ Magic with her March born heifer calf at foot sell to 2900gns with the cow and calves averaging £2451. 8 year old Charolais cow ‘Trefrawl Holly’ due October to Sportsman sold for 2050gns as did the younger ‘Lucy’ due November. Two year old recently served Charolais heifers sold to 1600gns.

Simmental cows from ‘Huntingford’ sold to 1600gns for the 4 year old ‘Huntsmead’ Hazel Queen and her twin calves at foot from Mr & Mrs C Goater.

Commercial Blonde cross cow and calf to £1290 from P Webber. Pedigree Devon with strong steer calf at foot £1250 L Ainsworth and commercial Angus cows with spring born Limousin cross calves to £1180 Bohetherick Farm.

A smaller number of bulls forward saw the continued good demand for Charolais with the Hooper’s 15 month old Trefrawl Puma by Sportsman Merlin sell for 2180gns and another 17 month old Merlin son at 2150gns. 3 year old pedigree Angus from SM & EM Reed sold to £2050 with Limousins at £2000 for DJR Davies of Carmarthen.
