A farmer near Chippenham has been left "extremely distressed" after being punched by a trespasser.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for information following the assault.

Police report that a woman and ‘her friend’ had trespassed on private farmland in Luckington, while attempting to monitor a fox hunt that they mistakenly believed to have been in progress.

When the woman and her companion were asked to leave by the landowners, she refused.

She then punched the landowner, a woman in her 40s, who was left feeling "extremely distressed".

The suspect is described as white, aged in her mid-30s, of stocky build with short dark brown hair.

She was wearing dark clothing with camouflage trousers.

The incident took place on October 3.
