The popular Christmas tradition of collecting the turkey might look a little different this year - as one turkey farm is set to offer a DRIVE-THRU turkey collection service writes Francesca Edwards and Sarah Lumley.

KellyBronze farm, in Danbury, Essex, are famous for their Christmas turkeys - and are hoping they will welcome just as many customers this festive season, despite Covid concerns.

And the turkey farm have come up with a way to keep the Christmas tradition fun for all involved - with staff dressed up as Santa and his elves ready to pop the birds into people's car boots.

Taking to their Facebook page last week, the owners of the farm wrote: "We have thought long and hard about the best and most fun way for you to collect your Christmas turkey, whilst adhering to social distancing measures.

"We are pleased to have come up with the ultimate KellyBronze drive-thru experience.

"If you live near us in Essex, we have great pleasure in inviting you and your family to enjoy a tipple and a nibble inside your vehicle, as Santa and our elves tuck your turkey into your trunk."

It comes just weeks after turkey farmers in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk announced they were looking to hatch fewer large birds this year - anticipating a scaled-back Christmas due to the 'rule of six'.

And, just days after announcing their drive-thru turkey collection, KellyBronze joined the ranks of those announcing they were selling smaller turkeys.

They have introduced 'the Demi' for Christmas this year - a whole bird, cut in half, which the farm says is "perfect for the smaller gathering".
