A chemical spillage on a farm near Pewsey was attended by two fire crews on Sunday morning (February 14).

Just before 11.30am crews were called to a farm in Urchfont following reports that an agricultural chemical fertiliser was leaking into a stream.

A spokesperson for Devizes Fire Service said: "Mobilised this morning to a small farm chemical spillage in Urchfont.

"Due to the spills nature, a HAZMAT incident was declared.

"We remained on scene until the spills was made safe and we were assisted by our neighbours from Pewsey Fire Station."

Environmental Agency drain covers were put in place as a precaution while the origins of the leak were investigated.

It was found that the leak had been caused due to ground seepage.
