The air ambulance helped a Cornish young farmer in his time of need - and to thank the crew, the club has produced a cookbook to raise funds for the charity.

Cornwall Air Ambulance rescued Dan Lethbridge when he became trapped in farm machinery.

The cookbook has been published by Liskeard Young Farmers Club to support the work of the charity and was the brainchild of Laura Moore, joint secretary of club, after she had used a similar charity recipe book in the past.

Charlotte Tucker, joint secretary of Liskeard YFC said: “Unfortunately, our usual fundraising activities have had to be put on hold due to coronavirus.

"However, we hope to raise around £3,000 from sales of our cookbook. The recipes have been supplied by past and present members, supporters of club, local chefs, family and friends.”

“Dan Lethbridge, our club chairman, chose to support the Cornwall Air Ambulance as his charity due to a personal experience in 2017 when his foot became caught in a piece of farm machinery.

"With the remote location the air ambulance attended the scene and airlifted him to Derriford Hospital. Since then, we have had a couple other people we know that have been airlifted, which shows how important it is.”

The books are priced at £10 and can be bought at Geoffrey Harris Tyres, Liskeard and The Cornish Pudding Company, Liskeard or for collection or local delivery in the Quethiock area by calling Laura on 07805 714394 or Charlotte on 07703 633269 for the Pensilva area.

“With so many recipes it's too hard to pick a favourite, there is such a variety to try!” adds Charlotte when asked which is her favourite recipe in the book.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us, our generous sponsors and to those who have purchased a copy so far, we hope that you enjoy it.”
