FORMER children’s laureate Michael Morpurgo is one of the big names confirmed for the Quartz Festival, at Queen’s College, Taunton.
The author of War Horse is taking part in an evening of music and narration based on his 2006 novel, The Mozart Question.
The performance tells the story of Paolo Levi, a passionate musician who becomes a world-famous performer with the help of his teacher, Benjamin.
In a parallel story we learn of his parents – Jewish prisoners, surviving and playing music in a concentration camp during the Second World War.
Suitable for a family audience from eight years upwards, The Mozart Question, is a story of friendship, family and secrets interwoven by the power of culture and music.
It is narrated by Michael Morpurgo, directed by Simon Reade and enhanced by extracts of music by Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and Vivaldi, featuring Daniel Pioro on violin and string quartet, The Storyteller’s Ensemble.
The performance, which promises to be a memorable and moving spectacle, takes place in the Queen’s Hall on Monday, October 10 at 7:30pm.
Tickets cost £20 adults, £17.50 concessions and £15 for school groups of 10 +
