TAUNTON Thespians’ are set to celebrate their 90th birthday in style and with a little help from their acting friends.
The drama group canvassed more than two dozen local drama and music societies to see if they’d like to join in the celebrations by presenting something on stage at the Brewhouse.
The theatre was booked for Saturday, February 17, with the aim of putting on a Variety Show in the evening.
Ten local societies accepted the invitation to take part and to contribute an act, approximately 6-8 minutes’ long.
The Taunton Thespians’ will provide an MC to oversee proceedings, and our production of The TramTrack Tragedy, a hilarious short melodrama directed by Jane Busby, will open the first half and close the second half.
The societies are: Bradford Players, CATS (Chard), Halse Players, HATS (Hatch Beauchamp), Kingston Players, Roadwater Players, Somerset Opera, Street Theatre, TAOS and Trull Players.
Chairman of Taunton Thespians, Michael Gilbert said: “Ten groups from across the region are taking part n the show and the Taunton Thespians’ will top and tail the show.
Ticket cost £10, £5 concession for children under 16, students.
