- World Day of Prayer The interdenominational movement of the Women’s World Day of Prayer invites everyone to attend one of over 5,000 services being held on Friday, March 2.

With the title ‘All God’s Creation is Very Good!’ We will join an estimated 3 million people around the world that day in a service which has been written this year by the women of Suriname in South America.

It all takes place at Baptist Church, Silver Street, Taunton from 10.30am-noon.

Saturday, March 3

- Northumbrian Smallpipes Gig A concert featuring some of the finest exponents of the Northumbrian Smallpipes and a chance to hear some of the participants in our Northumbrian Smallpipes Weekend course.

Performers include the 5 tutors from the Northumbrian Smallpipes weekend: Pauline Cato, Andy May, Alice Robinson (née Burn), Chris Evans and Francis Wood.

Takes place at Halsway Manor, Halsway Lane, nr Crowcombe, Taunton from 8pm10pm today and tomorrow.

- The Death of Stalin The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name, translated from the French original La mort de Staline.

The film will be shown at The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre, Coal Orchard, Taunton, from 7.30pm-9.10pm.

- Still Life / Red Peppers @2K Theatre presents Still Life / Red Peppers; a double bill by Noel Coward and directed by David Northey and Mike Leach.

Still Life - the play that became Brief Encounter - is set in ‘Milford Junction’ railway station.

Housewife Laura Jesson meets the handsome Dr Alec Harvey when he helps remove a piece of grit that has lodged in her eye.

What starts as an innocent relationship soon develops into something deeper and more passionate.

Red Peppers, a lovingly cynical tribute to the music hall era, is a vaudeville satire about George and Lily Pepper, a pair of acidtongued music hall artists who are on their way back down the ladder of success.

- Elderberry Fair - Somerset’s Over 50’s Show Somerset’s over 50’s showcase will cover a wide range of exhibitors to include travel, fitness and health, hobbies, socialising opportunities, financial, lifestyle, community groups, home security and services.

The show will be a fun packed day with a full entertainment programme to include live singers, wine tasting, fitness as well as show day offers.

It takes place at Wellsprings Leisure Centre, Cheddon Road, Taunton, Somerset from 10am-4pm. Entry £2 per person.

Monday, March 5

- Somerset Industrial Archaeological Society An informal evening of short presentations by SIAS members.

The event will be held at North Town School, off Wood Street, Taunton from 7.30pm-9pm £2 for non-members

Tuesday, March 6

- River and Canal Well Walk Come along for a wildlife walk along the River Tone and Taunton Canal Meet near the entrance to the Wicks Store, Priory Avenue.
