MUSIC has always been part of Tasmin Little’s life.

The international violinist can recall being told by her mother she was humming tunes in her cot when she was six months old.

It is her love of music and wanting to use it to connect with people which has been one of the driving factors in her life.

Tasmin’s love for playing an instrument emerged when she was six-years-old and had chicken pox.

Her mum bought her a recorder and a how to play it book. Within half an hour she was knocking out the tunes.

Tasmin said: “Listening to music was great but so much better when you could play an instrument.

Both me and my sister learnt to play the piano and then I wanted to play the violin.

“However she was too young as children at primary school had to wait until they were eight-years-old.

“When it was discovered she has perfect pitch, she was able to start.

This ‘love affair’ with the violin is as strong today as it has always been for Tasmin.

She said: “What music gives me is satisfaction of being able to interpret it freely.

When I am playing a concert it gives me a way of communicating to people to try and make them fall in love with the music.

“This spirit of communication is a beautiful one.”

The widely acclaimed Classic Brit Award winning concerto soloist, will be appearing at Queen’s College at 4.30pm on Sunday, July 15.

She will be there with the European Chamber Orchestra for a performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Speaking about the concert, Tasmin said: “The Four Seasons is a great piece of music. It is so exciting and I hope when they hear it they fall in love with it and even shed a tear. I love this piece of music.”
