THERE is plenty of festive fun at The Museum of Somerset this Christmas.

Santa will be setting up his grotto in the alms house for visits every Saturday in December (advance booking essential to avoid disappointment). After visiting Santa children can also follow the Elf Trail around the Museum.

Susie Simmons, Visitor Services Manager, said: “Santa’s visit to the Museum is one of our Christmas highlights.”

On December 8, local arts and crafts will be showcased at the Museum’s Christmas Market with more than 30 stalls. Organised in conjunction with the Castle Hotel, the market will include festive food and drink and carol singing. Entry is free.

On December 18, the Museum welcomes the acclaimed historical musicians Chris Green and Sophie Matthews, with special guest Jude Rees, for ‘A Brief History of Christmas’. They will showcase 600 years of Christmas music, songs and carols.

On December 21, the Museum will be serving a buffet-style two-course festive lunch in the surroundings of Castle House.

The Museum will also host Toddler Explorers Christmas Fun (age 1–3) on 7 December and Nostalgic Christmas Games and Toys on December 29 (age 3+).
