Ratchet and Clank (U) 94 mins

THEY are two of the most popular videogame characters.

Now Ratchet and Clank, who have appeared in titles on various PlayStation platforms, come to life in this computer-animated romp co-directed by Kevin Munroe and Jericca Cleland.

Ratchet (voiced by James Arnold Taylor) is a mechanic on Planet Veldin in the Solana Galaxy, who works alongside his boss Grimroth (John Goodman) fixing the residents' malfunctioning spacecraft.

While he may be a wizard with a wrench, Ratchet dreams of becoming a Galactic Ranger like his valiant heroes, Captain Qwark (Jim Ward), Cora (Bella Thorne) and Brax (Vincent Tong).

Chairman Drek (Paul Giamatti) and his hulking robotic henchman Victor (Sylvester Stallone) invade Veldin with their war bots, but Ratchet and his cute robotic sidekick Clank (David Kaye) unexpectedly save the day.

Their gallantry is rewarded with promotion to the Galactic Rangers, which sows the seeds of Captain Qwark's intense jealousy. Divisions appear in the ranks of the superheroes, which Chairman Drek and his chief scientist Doctor Nefarious (Armin Shimerman) exploit to destroy the Galactic Rangers from within.

The fate of the universe hangs in the balance and Ratchet and Clank test their mettle to repair divisions and repel Drek's mechanised army.
