JASON BOURNE (12) 123 mins.

DIRECTOR Paul Greengrass and actor Matt Damon return to their familiar roles behind and in front of the camera for the fifth chapter in the action-packed espionage thriller, based on characters created by author Robert Ludlum.

Jason Bourne (Damon) believes he knows how the US government moulded him into a trained killer as part of a top secret programme - Operation Treadstone - under the auspices of Dr Albert Hirsch (Albert Finney).

He is now living off the grid in Greece until old CIA contact Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) re-establishes contact to pass on confidential files that cast new light on his former life as David Webb.

In order to uncover the truth, Bourne must emerge from hiding and make himself a target for grizzled CIA Director Robert Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones) and his ambitious protegee Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander).

They dispatch a hit man, codename Asset (Vincent Cassel), to neutralise the rogue agent. Meanwhile, Dewey locks horns with technology specialist Aaron Kalloor (Riz Ahmed) on an operating system that would allow the US government to spy more easily on its citizens.
