JAZZ takes centre stage at the Ilminster Arts Centre on July 28 when this special gig pays tribute to two music legends: Gerry Mulligan and Clifford Brown.
Bringing these giants of jazz back to life for the Ilminster audience are Karen Sharp and Sue Richardson. They will be supported by the Craig Milverton Trio.
For this concert Karen will recreate the sound of the baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan, a revolutionary player who played with Miles Davis, toured with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, jammed with Chet Baker and composed many notables tunes, including ‘Blueport, and ‘Song for Strayhorn’.
Sue, will be playing in tribute to Clifford Brown, one of the original stars of modern jazz trumpet, noted for his virtuoso technique and graceful style.
Karen was a member of Humphrey Lyttleton’s band for several years and she has worked alongside Scott Hamilton, Sir John Dankworth and Alan Barnes.
Tickets £16 (pre-show supper £14 at 7pm, booked in advance)
