Bridget Jones’s Baby, starring Renee Zellweger, will be upon us soon and the trailer delivered ahead of the release has fans on social media squealing.
What’s not to love as there is more of our hapless heroine Bridget, who remains everybody’s favourite singleton.
Time has moved on and Bridget has broken up with dishy Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth. That dream of ‘happy ever after’ remains elusive. But Bridget’s love life takes a turn when she meets dashing American Jack Qwant (Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mark isn’t.
As the title suggests, Bridget finds herself pregnant – but who is the daddy?
“Do bring along the father if you can work out which one he is,” states Emma Thompson, who plays Bridget’s doctor. She also advised on the script for Bridget Jones’s Baby.
Screenwriter Helen Fielding, author of the original book series, has apparently written three different endings to avoid anyone finding out the baby’s paternity until the release of the movie.
In Mad About The Boy, the third instalment of Bridget Jones’s life by novelist Helen, something awful happened to Mark, but at least he’s back on the screen.
On Twitter, fans reacted to the imminent arrival of the film with joy – and some even have preferences as to who should be the father.
Hooray for Bridget!
Stick to the book
Bridget Jones’s Baby will be released in UK cinemas on September 16.
