Winter walks
The wider estate of Stourhead extends into Somerset with Alfred's Tower sitting firmly in the county. Discover a 5.5 mile walk on the Stourhead website (nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/wiltshire/stourhead/stourhead-king-alfreds-walk) which takes you up through ancient woodlands before circling back to see the 160ft folly which is believed to mark the site where King Alfred the Great rallied his troops in 878. A warm winter drink awaits you at the Alpine Coffee Co which sits just a few metres away in a woodland clearing. INSTA thealpinecoffeeco
