As November’s mid-terms approach, Trump is hoping to reverse his present US-wide unpopularity by replacing his previous fake peace-making image with that of a MAGA-inspiring omnipotent war-making world emperor.
His recently announced plan to raise military spending by 67 per cent by 2027 to $1.5tn returns military might and all-out war to the centre of his presidency, with America having 100 per cent bullying control of the so-called half-globe ‘western hemisphere’.
Proving this new Trump power come the last three weeks’ high-powered US military operations in Nigeria, Syria, Venezuela, the Caribbean, and Pacific coastal zones, plus the latest threats to invade Iran.
Venezuela’s role now is to supply the United States with oil and buy US goods in return.
Whilst there’s little to support Trump’s claim of many Christians being killed by Islamists in Nigeria, it will play well amongst US evangelicals, whom Trump depends on for votes.
Furthermore, the Pentagon is expanding its operations to track and board oil tankers transporting oil from Iran and Venezuela to Russia, whilst Netanyahu in Israel is allowed to act with impunity in Gaza, pushing ahead with a huge new settlement construction programme in the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
These renewed foreign interventions disprove any peace-seeking presidency: no ‘rule of law’ now, other than Trump’s law!
Big worry now over new war-mongering Trump is how it makes us all closer to the unthinkable ‘third world war’: probably nuclear, probably Armageddon?
China is currently involved in some 600 joint projects with the Caracas government, and around $70bn has been invested in Venezuela.
With the US in sad decline relative to China, particularly in the Global South, it’s no surprise that China’s bulging defence budget and military power have established a global network of over 750 military bases across 80 countries.
Megalomaniac Trump now gloats his illegal Venezuelan invasion will probably spread further into Cuba, Mexico, Colombia and, of course, Greenland.
However, for most Americans, the economic recession is making life worse, not better, except for the super-rich’s recent tax cuts.
Simultaneously, cuts to federally funded programmes in social security, health, education, welfare, infrastructure, etc., have become increasingly visible and generally hurtful.
Time for peace and disarmament lovers to rise up and shout “WELFARE NOT WARFARE!”
