MIDWIVES at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton were kept busy on Christmas Day in 1996 with six babies, five of them boys, being born.

First to give birth shortly after 1.30am on Christmas morning was Lucy Turner of Bridgwater, who named her son Joshua.

Then Claire Pike, of Minehead, gave birth to Matt Joseph, and Samantha Daw, of Moorlynch, gave birth to James Callum.

Then, as everyone else in the county was relaxing and finishing off the Christmas dinner leftovers, at 10.32pm, Katherine Cooke, of Taunton gave birth to Daniel, who weighed 8lb 3oz, and Jacqueline Penny, pictured, also of Taunton, gave birth to Zoe Louise who weighed in at 7lb 4oz.
